Abstract Expressionism, Abstract Kinetic & Tachisme Art Prints

While Abstract Expressionism artists were making their mark in the New York City art world beginning in the mid-1940s, an equivalent movement called Tachisme Art was taking place in Europe at the same time. Also referred to as Abstract Kinetic or Art Informel, the word "tachisme" comes from the French word "tache," which means splash or stain. Staining, splashing and dripping of paint on canvas were three well-used methods of creating Tachisme and Abstract Expression Art. These works were typically non-geometric, spontaneous, improvisational and meant to convey strong emotion rather than reality.

We feature a wonderful selection of abstract art prints and abstract lithographs here at Affordable Art 101, with more than 400 examples of abstract expressionism for sale from artists such as Joan Miro, Alexander Calder and Sam Francis to Henry Moore, Antoni Tapies and Robert Delaunay.
